Cagnotto tabs her second C-USA Diver of the Week accolade after sweeping both diving events in Houston's 126-104 win over North Texas on Saturday.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK (10/25)
CANDACE BLACKMAN, SMU
So., Dallas, Texas (Highland Park)

Blackman had an outstanding opening weekend for the Mustangs, winning every event she participated in to help SMU win the 12th Annual SMU Women's Swimming & Diving Classic for the second straight year, upsetting No. 1 Florida in the process. SMU now has won the Classic back-to-back twice, the first time during the 1995-1996. The win marked the sixth Classic title for the Ponies. The 12-point win over Florida was the second-closest margin of victory in SMU Classic history. The No. 9 Mustangs opened the season with a dual meet on Thursday, Oct. 20 against No. 1 Florida, falling 125-118. Blackman touched the wall first in both the 100 (50.31) and 200 free (1:47.43) and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team. In the Classic, Blackman again took first in the 50 free (23.43), setting a new career-best at SMU. Blackman defeated U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Vollmer in the 100 free, with her time of 50.65. The sophomore's 200 free time of 1:47.84 was also good for another first place finish. In relay events, Blackman was a member of the winning 200 free (1:33.32), 400 free (3:24.10) and 800 free relay (7:22.79) teams. The 200 free relay team set a new meet and pool record to close out the Classic and Blackman swam her opening leg in 23.36.

DIVER OF THE WEEK (10/25)
TANIA CAGNOTTO, HOUSTON
Fr., Bolzano, Italy (Communication Science)

Cagnotto swept both diving events for the second straight week en route to claiming back-to-back Conference USA Diver of the Week accolades. The rookie led her Cougar squad in the home opener at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium to a 126-104 win over instate rival North Texas. Cagnotto set CRWC Natatorium records in both events, earning 319.85 points to take top honors on the one-meter board. She capped the meet scoring 372.65 points to shatter the previous record of 321.53 points in the three-meter diving event. That total was the eighth-highest dual-meet total in UH history. The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, Nov. 3. UH will face off against Arkansas at 5 p.m. CST in the CWRC Natatorium.
